Doors 6:45 PM, Music 7:15 PM - 1 set of music Line-up: Oskar Jones - tenor sax Cubby Howard - cello Corin Veitch - guitar & vocals James Leaver-Whitfield - double bass Jonah Phillips - drum kit About: onah Phillips is an active London-based drummer, bandleader and arranger who performs on stages across the UK and internationally. With a background in fine art and film, Jonah is a recent graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. His work is influenced by the jazz tradition, fused with his interest in alternative songwriting, indie, post-punk, folk and electronica. For the final instalment of this year’s Vortex ‘Whirlpool’ series, Jonah debuts a unique group exploring riff-driven grooves and ambient textures, featuring arrangements by some of his favourite composers and songwriters. Inspiration is drawn from Paul Motian and Bill Frisell to David Bowie and Cameron Winter.
